Who can vote?

If I am not a Luxembourg national but I am an EU citizen, I can vote in the European elections and choose between two options:

  • I can either vote for six candidates to represent Luxembourg in the European Parliament;

  • or I can vote for candidates to represent my country of origin in the European Parliament.

Voting is compulsory for all Luxembourg nationals, who are automatically registered on the electoral roll.

  • I must be at least 18 years old on the day of the elections (9 June 2024).

  • I must be a resident in Luxembourg both when I register to vote and on the day of the election (no minimum period of residence is required).

  • I must register to vote by 17:00 on 15 April 2024.

  • I must not have been deprived of my civil rights or of my right to vote in Luxembourg or in my EU country of origin.
